New Main School Uniform 2011 PDF Print E-mail

We have made some exciting new changes to our Main School uniform!  After extensive consultation with students, parents and staff, we put a proposal to the school’s governors and they accepted it unanimously at the end of last term.

So why change the uniform? The majority of students and parents felt that our current Lower School uniform is too similar to what they wore in primary school or to the PE kit, so our new pale blue blouse will give a smarter feel to the uniform whilst still being comfortable and practical to wear.  A new striped blouse for Upper School students maintains the difference between Lower and Upper School uniform, which students were very keen to keep.  An overwhelming 70% of students said they would like a blazer, so we have added a smart, fitted, washable blazer which costs under £30, and which gives the whole outfit a completely new look, (and is also warmer for in the winter.)

The full uniform list and the uniform being modelled is below.  To ease the changes in, we have made the following allowances:

·        The current year 10 will not have to wear the new uniform, but will be able to continue wearing the old uniform if they prefer to do so.

·        All students from Year 8 upwards will have one academic year to continue wearing the current uniform if they wish, although the blazer is compulsory for Years 7-10 from September 2011 onwards.

·        The RHS logo polo shirt can be worn as PE kit from September onwards.

·        Year 7 students starting school in September will be required to wear the full new school uniform.

·         All Main School students will be required to wear the new uniform from September 2012.

The new uniform will be available from the Schoolwear Centre, High Street, Rugby and Webb Ellis, St Matthews Street, Rugby from June onwards.

We will be sending you further details soon of a scheme we are setting up to enable families to sell second hand items of uniform.  However, if you have old uniform which you would like to donate to charity, we are collecting it to donate to a school in Africa.  Details will follow.
