Students at Rugby High School have numerous opportunities to take part in competitive and recreational sport. Through the role of the School Sports Coordinator (SSCO) a number of recreational opportunities have been made available including cheerleading, martial arts, aerobics, sailing, golf and fitness in recent years. We are also fully involved in all local Rugby town fixtures, leagues and tournaments in the following sports: Netball, Football, Hockey, Tag Rugby, Cross Country, Cheerleading, Tennis, Rounders, Cricket, and Athletics.

We also compete in the Minute Maid football cup, Warwickshire county cup and English Schools Cup for football. In 2008 the U13 team won the Warwickshire County Cup. The winning team is shown below with Miss Haggarty, the U13 football coach last season.

We compete in the schools cup competition for athletics, with many of our athletes being selected to represent the county, and some having been recently selected to compete in the National Schools Finals.

Every year the department also runs a trip to Marle Hall the Warwickshire Outdoor and Adventurous centre in North Wales, for all year 9 students, and yearly trips to PGL centres across the country. The department also runs as many trips to see a variety of live sporting events as possible, to allow students to experience sport at a professional level, giving them inspiration for their own training.
