‘Biometric systems’
The school has streamlined the canteen with a cashless system; this provides a faster service to students and total accountability on their accounts. Using finger print technology students can pay for items, see their balance and address any possible mistakes.
Registration
Students joining the school are automatically registered, it takes seconds to perform. Students not on the system are not able to purchase from the canteen.
Security / data issues
This local authority approved system reads nine points on the finger and stores this unique information as a mathematical formula. (It does not store the finger print itself and cannot regenerate a print, it would be impossible for somebody to use this information other than its intended purpose). This information works along side the SIMS system that all schools use for data storage. The information is not available to 3rd parties, it is not held off site and only selected members of staff have access to personal details.
