Partnership Agreement Between Yantian Foreign Language School and Rugby High School

 

  1. Our partnership is founded on our common desire to help students and staff to understand and appreciate each others’ culture and language, to be good global citizens and to enhance the quality of learning in our two outstanding schools.

 

  1. Our educational aims are to understanding of each others’ cultures by:

·                     creating opportunities for students to develop their communication skills and cultural understanding by becoming pen friends

·                     creating opportunities for students to work together on common themes and topics e.g. the benefits and drawbacks of scientific advances

·                     creating opportunities for students to learn each others’ language and to appreciate each others’ cultures through summer schools and exchanges (the possibility of a group of students and staff from Yiantian visiting England in July 2008 will be explored).

·                     creating opportunities for staff share pedagogy and learn from each other.

 

  1. We are committed to helping each other with language learning and improving the quality of the relationship between our two outstanding schools.

 

  1. The values that underpin our partnership are respect for each other and other people, harmony, care for each other and for the environment.

 

  1. We will devote time and effort to widening participation in our partnership. We will seek funding from external sources and will also use our own school funds to support it. Both schools will seek to involve their partner primary schools once the partnership is securely established. Internet activities will facilitate participation by a wide range of student groups.

 

  1. The partnership will be evaluated and reviewed annually and a joint document produced by the headteachers of the schools. The document will list partnership activities (this list will be jointly agreed). Each headteacher will write a section for the report evaluating the impact that partnership activities have had on students’ learning. The full report will be published in English and Chinese.

 

  1. The partnership is founded on mutual respect. Any difficulties that arise will be resolved through negotiations between the headteachers. The programme of activities and the development of the partnership will be agreed by the two headteachers in consultation with the Education Bureau of Shenzhen, Warwickshire County Council who will communicate using email. In the event of a change of headteacher, the partnership will be continued by the new appointee.     

 

  1. It is agreed that we will seek funds from a variety of sources to sustain our partnership including, The Shenzhen Education Bureau, The British Council, Warwickshire County Council, our parents’ associations, specialist status funding and other budgetary resources and private sponsorship.
