Digital Storytelling in a foreign language for our Primary Partner schools This year we had the opportunity to do a fun project connected with modern foreign languages during our year 10 Spanish lesson. The project was about creating Digital stories in a foreign Language. Using IT, in pairs, we had just a few weeks to create a presentation of a fairytale in a foreign language, which would then be given to our partner primary schools at a later stage. Although most people chose to use Spanish, there were also some presentations in French and German made by those students studying more than one language. And though most students chose to produce their presentation using Microsoft Powerpoint, we decided to use Macromedia Flash 8. We decided to produce a presentation of the fairytale 'Jack and the Beanstalk' in Spanish. We chose this story because we liked it and thought it would be fun to animate. Although using Flash made the project more difficult, we enjoyed the challenge and loved using the program. We also recorded our stories in mp3 files using the target language and then integrated the audio files in our digital stories. We would like to thank Señorita Martinez for her help with the translating, and also for giving us all the opportunity to undertake such a fun project. This opportunity not only allowed us to use our imagination and creative skills, it also helped us improve our language skills too.
