Welcome to the Geography Department.

What is Geography at RHS?

  • It is about questioning and understanding the physical world.
  • It is about exploring how humans impact the world.
  • It is about analyising the human world, understanding the vast differences across the globe.
  • It is about learning vital life skills - map work, team work, and study skills.
  • It is about being prepared for a sustainable future.

All the girls study Geography up to Year 9 and it is an option in Years 10 and 11 (currently the GCSE AQA Syllabus A is followed). The year 10 students attend a residential fieldtrip in June in preparation for the coursework.

The OCR A syllabus is currently being followed for A level. The October field-trip (as detailed below) is a highlight of the year and consolidates syllabus understanding and is used to teach fieldwork skills for the individual exam assessed year 13 project.
