Drama is seen as a dynamic and important subject at Rugby High School and is taught at all Key Stages. Students are given the opportunity to study Drama as a subject within its own right: students learn that it is an art form with its own discipline and methodology. The links between Drama and English are recognised and encouraged. It is also recognised that Drama contributes to social and personal development of each student. At the heart of Drama is acting: students are enabled to put themselves into different situations and take on different roles for a range of different purposes. There is a progression of skills and knowledge throughout Years Seven to Thirteen; skills and knowledge are introduced, and students are called on to revisit and build on these skills as the units of work progress. From the beginning of Year Seven students are taught that Drama is not only about performing: they learn about the four inter - linking processes of the subject. The Drama club at Rugby High School provide an important opportunity for students to develop a wide range of drama skills in a friendly, informal environment. There is an annual School Production, which provides students with a wonderful opportunity to work with girls throughout the school, from year eight to year thirteen. Students are involved in many different ways.
