We all engage in critical thinking in everyday life, as we weigh-up the pros and cons in any decision-making situation; but this is a skill we can develop and use to enhance our academic achievement, and use to our distinct advantage as a life skill. This course is about learning the skills of reasoning, evaluation of argument and debate, identifying and evaluating assumptions, judging credibility, as well as drawing inferences and producing arguments. This is learned as a set of discrete skills, firstly using manicured argument; and then students learn how to apply them when evaluating the arguments/theories of others.
